District Election Office Kathua intensifies Voter Enrolment Drive

KATHUA: As part of the ongoing Special Summary Revision 2023, the District Election Office Kathua intensified Voter Sensitization Drives as part of its voter literacy programme under Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) Programme.

The election cell has planned activities at grassroots level by roping in school and colleges along with the teams comprising ARO, AERO, BLOs, supervisory staff to educate the prospective voters about the importance of voting and their role in the electoral process, besides highlighting the importance of voter participation in a democracy and educating the eligible voters about their registration in the electoral roll.

Besides extensive door to door campaigns in all ACs by respective BLOs, SVEEP Van is visiting Panchayat to Panchayat to educate masses about the ongoing Special Summary Revision Exercise and how a common citizen can update their details or enroll for fresh registration as a new voter.

Installation of hoardings at prominent locations across the district and Social media campaign has also been intensified to educate all stakeholders about the important window in the shape of Special Summary revision wherein District Election machinery has initiated extensive drive to update the error free electoral rolls. Besides, people are also being sensitized about the online registration as a voter on the National Voters Service Portal (NVSP) and the Mobile Voter Helpline App.

Pertinently, ECI has issued a revised schedule under which claim and objections shall be taken till 06 May 2023, Claims and objections shall be disposed by 15 May 2023 and Final publication of Electoral Rolls shall be held on 27 May 2023.
