District Hub for Empowerment of Women Budgam organizes one-day Awareness programme

BUDGAM : The District Hub for Empowerment of Women (Mission Shakti), Budgam today organised an awareness programme on Women Empowerment in collaboration with J&K Women Development Cooperation at B.K.Pora Budgam.

The programme was organised under the guidance and supervision of Chairman District Development Commission and District Social Welfare Officer Dr. Syed Farhana Asgar.

At the outset, Afroza District Mission Coordinator raised awareness on various women specific schemes such as BBBP, JSY, Ladli Beti, PMMVY, Mumkin, Tajeswani, Cutting and Tailoring, Revised Marriage Assistance Scheme, JKNRLM, One Stop Centre for Women, Shelter Home and WHL 181 etc.

Asifa Manzoor, Gender Specialist explained different types of violence that can be seen prevalent in the society. A lot of emphasis was given on sexual violence and means of seeking help in case of occurrence of sexual violence. Contact Numbers of child-line, WHL 181, DHEW, OSC, Women Squad and Special Cell for Women and Children were shared with the participants so that they can seek help in case of any kind of violence they face or witness.

The team also discussed the issues related to cyber crime and stalking. They also discussed the means of prevention of such crimes. Participants were made aware of steps they can take in order to seek help in case of any cyber security issue they face.

The team threw light on services provided by Integrated Child Protection Scheme, role of DCPU, CWC and JJB.

Bashir Ahmad from Women Development Cooperation Budgam raised awareness on different financial services provided by the Department such as NMDFC, NHFDC, NBCFDC and WEP

CDPO, Supervisors, AWWs, AWHs, Local Women took part in the awareness programme.
