District Level Training Programme on development of Seed Multiplication Chain, Exotic Vegetables held at Kishtwar

KISHTWAR : Continuing the series of training programmes under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme, , a District Level Training session was today conducted here in the Office premises of Chief Agriculture Officer, Kishtwar.
The training programme was focused on the creation and development of certified Seed and Seed Multiplication chains, besides development of Vegetable particularly Exotic Vegetables in the district under Holistic Document.
During the programme, the speakers highlighted the fact that owing to special agro-climatic conditions (Himalayan conditions) of the region there is vast potential for the promotion of exotic as well as traditional vegetable sector and under holistic development of Agriculture and allied sectors a special focus has been shifted towards this field.
Special lectures were delivered on ‘Promotion of Vegetable/ Exotic Vegetables in the training programme by various experts.
The speakers and resource persons said that the vegetable sector has huge scope in the district and could generate a large number of employment opportunities.
They said that under the holistic document a special programme has been designed for this purpose so that maximum opportunities under this sector could be explored.
CAO asked the officers to work in close coordination so that the desired results could be achieved under all the projects of the Holistic Document.
Besides, during the training programme, it was envisioned that there is a need for creating certified seed producers so that the seed multiplication chain is established as documented in a holistic document and such programmes are instrumental in the process to make the Kishtwar District seed sufficient.
The training programme was conducted under the close supervision of Chief Agriculture Officer (CAO) Kishtwar Amjad Hussain Malik.
Incharge Head KVK, Dr. Narinder Pal (Scientist) besides other officers of Agriculture and allied departments participated in the training programme.
