JAMMU : Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr Raghav Langer and Additional Director General of Police Jammu zone, Mukesh Singh on Tuesday co-chaired a coordination meeting of Deputy Commissioners, Senior Superintendents of Police to review measures taken by them to curb illegal extraction of minor minerals, implementation of Covid SoPs and resolving land and other related issues of Police Department.
The meeting was attended in Div Com office in person by SSP Jammu, Chandan Kohli; Director Geology and Mining, O P Bhagat; Assistant Commissioner General Jammu, Additional Commissioners with Div Com, Assistant Commissioners and other concerned officers, while Deputy Commissioners and SSPs of other districts of division participated in the meeting through video conferencing.
While reviewing mining related issues, the Divisional Commissioner instructed the DCs, DMOs to develop an effective mechanism to keep a close check on illegal mining and take legal action against the perpetrators. He asked for holding District level multi department task force meetings periodically for reviewing the enforcement measures.
The ADGP also directed the SSPs to activate Nakas, ensure random checking of GST bills, colour coding forms and also provide Police assistance to the officers whenever required.
The Div Com asked for proper demarcation of mining blocks after it was informed that the same has not been done in some districts. The DMOs, Revenue officials were asked to ensure that mining is done within demarcated space.
The Div Com also directed that the District level task force including DCs, DMOs to randomly conduct field visits to the notified mining blocks to check form A and issue show cause notices to contractors in case of violations, if any. He further asked to devise multiple measures to check illegal mining like activation and strengthening of Nakas, installation of CCTVs etc.
The Div Com also instructed the DCs to ensure that there was no overcharging of minerals from the public.
The officers also reviewed pendency of SRO 43 cases in the districts and directed the Deputy Commissioners to send a consolidated list of cash compensation for further proceedings.
Meanwhile, the Div Com and ADGP also reviewed implementation of Covid appropriate behavior in the districts and the DCs, SSPs apprised about the status of fine collections.
The status of issuance of warrants under Public Safety Act and their execution was discussed in detail in the meeting.
Later, the officers also discussed in detail the pending land issues of the Police department regarding establishment of Police Stations, Police Posts, Housing Colonies, accommodation etc.
The Divisional Commissioner instructed the DCs to expedite the process of preparation of revenue papers, follow all the land acquisition, requisition cases of Police so that the requisite land was transferred to the Police department for various departmental purposes.
The Div Com and ADGP highlighted the importance of institutions of DC & SSP in a district and exhorted all officers to work in close coordination.
