DLSA Bandipora organises legal awareness programme on Public Welfare schemes

 

BANDIPORA : The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Bandipora in collaboration with District Administration Bandipora on Saturday organised a day long legal awareness programme on various welfare schemes offered by the government.

Chairman District Development Council (DDC) Abdul Gani Bhat, Vice Chairperson Kounser Shafeeq, Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad, Principal District and Sessions Judge Bandipora Mohammad Ibrahim Wani, Secretary Legal Services Authority, Fariqa Nazir, Joint Director Planning and other senior officers of the district were present on the occasion.

On the occasion different stalls were set up in the lawns of Mini-Secretariat wherein the departments showcased their performance and the schemes being offered by them for the welfare of the people including the department of Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, Agriculture, Horticulture, NRLM, Employment, Handicrafts/ Handloom, DIC, Health, KVIB, EDI, LDM and One Stop Centre (OSC).

Resources persons of the respective departments presented relevant information of all the welfare schemes of their respective departments to the visitors. Products prepared by various Self Help Groups (SHGs) were also displayed at the stalls.

On the occasion, the dignitaries distributed sanction certificates to 31 beneficiaries of various schemes under different departments.

Later, an awareness programme was organised at Conference Hall that was attended by members of Panchayat Raj Institutions (PRIs) and other senior officers of the district. The officers spoke on the occasion and said that the aim of organizing the camp is to generate awareness on various welfare programmes of the government and the spots of distributions of benefits to eligible beneficiaries.

While speaking on the occasion, Principal District and Session Judge gave a historical account of the origin of legal services Authorities in the country and importance of organizing a legal services camp in the district.

He said that courts duty is not within the premises of the courts but it has gone beyond that and through Legal Services Authority, they reach out to the people to ensure that the benefit of schemes reach to the people at grassroots level. He said government’s duty is to provide justice to various sections of the society and Legal Services Authority is there to assist the government in this regard and help the beneficiary to get justice.

He also said that continuous efforts are being made by courts to ensure that every individual has access to justice so that justice is delivered to the common man at doorsteps. He further said that residents have a right to basic amenities like drinking water, drainage, roads, electricity and other things and said the outreach programme started by the Government of India provides a window to approach people directly for resolving their issues.

Deputy Commissioner while speaking on the occasion said that the district administration has formulated a multilevel strategy to create awareness about the welfare schemes and job oriented schemes so that people are benefitted. He sought cooperation of the pillars of the democracy including judiciary so that common masses are benefitted and several initiatives are being taken in this regard.

He also highlighted the significance of the camp and said such events enable different departments to deliver their services in smooth, efficient and coordinated manner.

Secretary DLSA Bandipora Fariqa Nazir stressed on making every endeavor and efforts to make availability of “Justice for All” a reality as per the mandate of the constitution.

The Resource Persons threw light on various Welfare Schemes launched by the Government and asked the participants to reap the benefits of the same.
