DLSA B’la organises Special Lok Adalat

 

BARAMULLA : With an objective of making people aware of their entitlements under various enactments and as part of PAN India Legal Awareness and Outreach Campaign, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Baramulla organized a Special Lok Adalat at Baramulla here.

The Lok Adalat was organised under the Chairmanship of Mohammad Yousuf Wani, Chairman District Legal Services Authority (Principal District & Sessions Judge) Baramulla.

On the occasion, 09 Benches were constituted for hearing of the identified cases throughout the District.

A total number of 334 cases were taken up throughout the District before different Lok Adalat benches, out of which 189 cases were settled amicably on spot whereas an amount of Rs.700/- was realized on account of composition in Criminal offences and Rs.10,000 was also realised on account of maintenance charges. In addition to this, Rs. 4890000 and 2800 were also realised in N.I. Act and civil cases respectively.

Speaking on the occasion, Chairman DLSA Baramulla said that the main objective of organizing such awareness campaigns is to make people in general and poor and weaker sections of the society in particular aware of their entitlements under various enactments being provided to them.

On the occasion, Secretary DLSA Baramulla, Mir Sayeem Qayoom said that the objective of these outreach and awareness programme is to make every endeavour and effort to make availability of ‘Justice for all’ a reality as per the mandate of the constitution.

The litigant people especially hailing from economically weaker sections of the society hailed the efforts of DLSA Baramulla for conducting Special Lok Adalat programme meant for the settlement of their long pending matters.
