DLSA Ganderbal organises Legal Awareness programme on ‘Anti Ragging Laws’

 

GANDERBAL : The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Ganderbal today organized a Legal awareness programme on ‘Anti Ragging Laws’ at J&K Sainik School Manasbal.

The programme was held under the guidance of Tabasum, Secretary DLSA Ganderbal and was attended by Faculty Members, Students from Sainik School Manasbal.

Advocate Abid Jeelani resource person appointed by District Legal Services Authority Ganderbal addressed the participants impressing upon the consequences of ragging. He enlightened the students about the laws of the country with respect to ragging and how it affects the life of the victim and the victimizer.

During the programme, various provisions regarding ragging were discussed. The speakers said that Ragging has become a menace, cause of fear and shock not only for a fresher but to his parents too who are sending their loved ones to pursue higher education by investing a lot of hard earned money.

They added that every single incident of ragging or abetting in ragging puts an obligation on the institution to get the FIR registered. Students can take recourse to the provision laid down in CrPC and IPC in order to file FIR in the nearest Police Station.

Other academicians also deliberated on the occasion.
