DLSA organizes Special Lok Adalat at Kathua

Kathua: A Special Lok Adalat was held in the premises of District Court Complex Kathua under the overall supervision of Chairman District Legal Services Authority, Kathua Pawan Dev Kotwal.

To settle the cases in the Special Lok Adalat two benches were constituted. Bench No. 1 comprised of Pr. District & Sessions Judge Kathua Pawan Dev Kotwal, and Addl. District & Sessions Judge Kathua Jatinder Singh Jamwal, whereas Bench No. 2 comprised Chief Judicial Magistrate Kathua Yashpal Sharma and Spl. Mobile Magistrate Kathua Ms Anjana Rajput.

Besides, the Lok Adalats were also organized by Tehsil Legal Services Committees Hiranagar, Basholi, Bani, Billawar and Mahanpur.

A total of 133 cases were taken up out of which 94 cases were disposed of/ settled. These included 04 MACT cases, 05 Matrimonial cases, 33 Bank cases, 02 Civil suits, 30 Criminal compoundable cases, 09 Petition U/s 125 CrPc , 09 Complaint u/s 138 NI Act & 02 other cases.

Compensation worth Rs 28,05,000/- was awarded in the MACT cases and a Recovery of Rs 27,88,598/- was also made in favour of the Banks. 01 case which was more than 5 years old was also settled in the aforesaid Lok Adalat.
