DLSA Samba hosts awareness program to observe World AIDS Day

SAMBA :Under the able aegis of NALSA and as per the Action Plan issued by Jammu and Kashmir Legal Services Authority & for the month of December, 2022 and also under the able guidance and supervision of Sonia Gupta, Chairman District Legal Services Authority Samba (also Pr. District and Sessions Judge Samba), District Legal Services Authority, Samba today observed the World Aids Day on the Theme (2022) ”Equalize” by organizing an Awareness program in collaboration with the Department of Health, here in the Government District Hospital.

Dr. Mohinder Kumar, Medical Superintendent, Government District Hospital Samba acted as a Resource Person in the program. He deliberated upon the theme and importance of the Day. He spoke about as to how individual living with HIV and other vulnerable and marginalized groups risk discrimination and isolation because of the Virus. He urged upon how our Communities must utilize the ’Equalize’ message to highlight the inequalities they experience and push for the measure necessary to rectify them.

The proceedings of the program were conducted by Panel Advocate Hitesh Sharma who addressed the gathering about the Legal Rights of AIDS patients and presented the vote of thanks to the gathering.

The program was attended by Panel Advocates, staff of Govt. District Hospital Samba and PLVs of District Legal Services Authority Samba. Besides this, another program on ‘World Aids Day’ also organized by DLSA Samba at Sub District Hospital Vijaypur, wherein Dr. Abdul Queum, Medical Superintendent, elaborated on how to end this disease and eliminate the inequalities against the disease.
