DLSA Srinagar hosts collaborative program at Ahat-e-Waqar, Chanpora
SRINAGAR : The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Srinagar, in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare and Department of Health Services Saturday organized a magnificent program at the Day Care Center for Senior Citizens, “Ahat-e-Waqar” Chanpora, Srinagar.
The program that was organized under the guidance of Chairman DLSA Srinagar, Jawad Ahmad showcased the power of collaboration in enhancing the quality of living for senior citizens, fostering a sense of community, and celebrating the contributions of one of Kashmir’s most beloved poets, Zareef Ahmad Zareef.
The event was graced by the presence of renowned Kashmiri poet Zareef Ahmad Zareef, who participated as the Chief Guest and launched his latest book titled “Bouzie Na Kaensi Zaeree”. Zareef’s presence added a touch of elegance and literary richness to the program, captivating the audience with his profound words and poetic expressions.
Jahangir Ahmad Bakshi highlighted the role of DLSA and emphasised upon the commitment of DLSA in addressing the needs of senior citizens and ensuring their well-being.
Among the distinguished guests was Muhtair Ahmad, District Social Welfare Officer, who has consistently worked towards promoting the welfare and empowerment of senior citizens. He emphasised upon the collaborative efforts of the Department of Social Welfare, District Legal Services Authority and other concerning Departments of the Govt. in fostering a nurturing environment for senior citizens and also highlighted the various initiatives of the Government for the welfare of the Senior Citizens.
Liala Sultana, the Physiotherapist and Incharge of Day Care Centre for Senior Citizens, played a significant role in ensuring the well-being and care of the senior citizens at “Ahat-e-Waqar.” Her compassionate approach contributed to the overall success of the program.
The Chairman of the Senior Citizens Council, Abdul Ganie Parray shared his invaluable insights and commitment towards advocating for the rights and welfare of senior citizens. His presence underscored the collaborative efforts of various organizations in creating an inclusive society where the elderly are respected and valued.
Additionally, the program witnessed the participation of esteemed individuals such as Prof (R) Qazi Altaf, Khurseed Ahmad Zargar, Mushtaq Muharram, Owais Qadri, Asima Coordinator UNICEF, Shaheen Qadri, Lecturer, students of Candid Hr. Sec. School, Chanpora, officials and para-legal volunteers deputed at the Day Care Centre. Their active involvement demonstrated the collective commitment of the community in supporting and enriching the lives of senior citizens.
The program served as a platform to highlight the significance of collaboration among government departments, NGOs, and individuals in enhancing the quality of living for senior citizens. It emphasized the importance of fostering a sense of community, promoting cultural enrichment, and providing comprehensive care and support to the elderly population. The program was moderated by one of the members of Day care centre Khazir Mohammad.
The DLSA Srinagar, in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and the Department of Health Services, Govt. of Jammu and Kashmir, remains committed to organizing similar programs and initiatives that uplift and empower senior citizens. Through collaborative efforts, they aim to create a society where the elderly are cherished and provided with the resources necessary for a dignified and fulfilling life.
