DLSA Udhampur hosts awareness Program on Prohibition of Child Marriage
UDHAMPUR : A Legal Awareness Programme on Prohibition of Child Marriage was today organized by District Legal Services Authority, Udhampur in collaboration with Government Middle School Meer at Government Middle School Meer.
The event was held in compliance with the Common Minimum Programme provided by J&K Legal Services Authority and under the Chairmanship of Chairman District Legal Services Authority Udhampur, Y.P. Bourney and overall Supervision of Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Udhampur, Rajni Sharma.
Panel Lawyers Adv. Sanjeet Kumar and Adv. Akhil Dubey, were the Resource Persons for the Programme.
The main purpose of this Awareness Programme was to sensitize the general masses, especially Children about the importance of Prevention of Child Marriages in India.
The Resource Persons threw light on all the provisions of Prohibition of Child Marriage Act 2005, impressing upon the gathering especially Children and Women victims to come forward and approach various Legal Services Institutions for redressal of their grievances.
Later, the Secretary DLSA thanked the participants for attending the Legal Awareness Programme. She asked the participants to take a pledge to fight the menace of Child Marriage as it ends the Childhood and negatively influences Children’s rights to Education, Health and Protection. The Programme was attended by Head Master of the School, Bhim Singh, and students of Government Middle School Meer.
