DLSA Udhampur inquires about welfare of Covid positive jail inmates through virtual mode

Udhampur: Chairman District Legal Services Authority Udhampur, Yash Paul Bourney (Pr. District & Sessions Judge) along with Secretary DLSA, Sub judge, Rajni Sharma today organized a meeting with Jail Superintendent through virtual mode to inquire about the welfare of corona positive jail inmates.

During the online meet, the Chairman DLSA inquired from superintendent jail with regard to 72 Prisoners and 08 Staff members infected with Covid-19 virus as per reports published in media.

Giving the details, the Superintendent District Jail, SSP Harish Kotwal confirmed the reports published in the media. He added that despite all best precautions, he failed to know how the infection was caused to the Jail inmate. He added that he himself got infected and has gone into quarantine.

Meanwhile, the Chairman DLSA instructed the Superintendent jail to approach him on his personal mobile no for any help/assistance if required .He also instructed Jail authorities to be cautious and take precautionary and preventive measures to ensure that the infection may not transmit to the other prisoners in the jail.
