DM Reasi permits Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University to start offline classes

Varsity asked to conduct compulsory testing every 15 days, ensure 100% vaccination of Staff, Students, adherence to CAB

 

REASI : District Magistrate Reasi, Charandeep Singh has permitted Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) Katra to start offline classes in consonance with the government’s guidelines.

A detailed order passed in this regard specifies several measures to be taken by the University authorities.

Under the provisions of National Disaster Management Act, 2005 and Epidemic Diseases Act 1897, the District Magistrate Reasi has permitted offline classes with immediate effect subject to the conditions that: all necessary precautions and COVID protocols issued by the Government from time to time are followed in order to ensure safety of students and staff of the University. The competent authority shall decide the number of students/faculty for the offline classes and inform the office of District Magistrate accordingly.

Further, there shall be testing of the students/faculty after every 15 days and University shall ensure 100 percent vaccination of the staff and students. Besides, Covid Appropriate Behaviour like social distancing, wearing of masks, frequent sanitization of hands etc. shall be followed by students and staff.

The order further mandates that regular Sanitization of the Class Rooms/Halls and the sitting areas within the University Campus shall be done. Daily Thermal Screening of the students and staff shall be done at the entry Gate. Positive case, if any, detected shall be immediately isolated and quarantined under intimation to the Block Medical officer, Katra who will ensure contact tracing of the positive person in coordination with the University authorities. University shall conduct the regular IEC activities for the implementation of Covid Appropriate Behaviour in the University Campus.

Earlier, the Registrar of SMVD University had requested District Administration to permit commencement of Offline Classes for the benefit of students as many courses include crucial lab work that can be ensured through offline mode only.
