‘Donation on Wheels Campaign’ : Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel’s compassionate initiative

Raipur: Lockdown for prevention of Corona virus (COVID-19) infection has created major problem of food and grocery supply for daily-wager families, disable and destitute people. Hence, to save them from unavailability of food, ‘Donation on Wheels’ campaign has been launched, on Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel’s initiative. Under this campaign, ration packets are being delivered at the doorstep of people in need. Many social welfare organizations and NGOs are actively participating and supporting this campaign to serve people.

This noble initiative is garnering huge public support. NGOs and individuals are voluntarily participating and contributing in this campaign. District Administration is also collecting contribution of dry ration from various households. Any citizen can participate in this noble work. District Administration Raipur also collects ration packets from voluntary donors and distributes it to people in need.

Six vehicles have been deployed for collection of ration stock from donors. These vehicles visit various localities and colonies to collect ration donations. Social welfare organizations, common people and donors have been told to prepare ration packets, keep it at their homes, and inform District Administration. Thereafter, District Administration ensures collection of these packets and distribution of the same to people in need.

For the convenience of people who are interested in donating food grains, District Administration has released two mobile numbers. By contacting on this numbers, one can get time-table and route chart of the vehicles deployed for ‘Donation on Wheels Campaign’. These vehicles visit particular locality on a particular day and time as per the schedule, so that people of that locality may contribute ration packets for the needy. Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel has himself donated 500 packets of food grains and Rs 11 thousand for this campaign yesterday. Donors can prepare packets including of 5 kg rice, 2 kng wheat flour, half kg pulses, half kg salt and one unit soap bar.
