DoPT approves mass promotion of 1,592 Assistant Section Officers

The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has approved the mass promotion of one thousand 592 officials from Assistant Section Officers (ASOs) to Section Officers on an adhoc basis with immediate effect.

Making this announcement in New Delhi today, Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh also informed that another two thousand promotions in ASO and other Grades are in process and they are likely to get promoted by this year-end. He emphasized that the government is actively reviewing stagnation issues in central ministries over the past nine years, and last year alone, around nine thousand mass promotions were granted.

The Minister also expressed concern at cases where employees spend their entire service tenure without securing a single promotion and highlighted efforts to address stagnation at middle and lower levels of administration.

Dr Singh noted that to bring in the ease of governance and objectivity in empanelment, the government has improvised upon the procedures and minimized human interface through sophisticated technology tools.
