DPS Raj Nagar Extension Celebrates Festival of Libraries

DPS Raj Nagar Extension participated in the grand opening of the Festival of Libraries inaugurated by the esteemed President of India Ms. Droupadi Murmu. The festival, organised by the Ministry of Culture, marked a significant step towards promoting the development and digitisation of libraries while fostering a vibrant culture of reading. DPS Raj Nagar Extension was honoured to have been invited to attend the function.  30 students and three teachers attended the prestigious ceremony.

The Festival of Libraries witnessed remarkable milestones, including the launch of a comprehensive directory of libraries and the signing of a trilateral memorandum of understanding (MoU) among three prominent libraries: Khuda Bakhsh Oriental Public Library in Patna, Rampur Raza Library in UP’s Rampur, and Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Library. The event featured an array of engaging activities, such as storytelling sessions, poetry appreciation, bookmark making, and calligraphy, specially curated for the visiting students. It was a day filled with joyful learning experiences and cultural enrichment.

Ms. Pallavi Upadhyaya, Principal, DPS Raj Nagar Extension, stated, “The Festival of Libraries has illuminated the path for us to embrace the treasures of knowledge and the legacy of our culture. It has reaffirmed our belief that books are not merely sources of information but gateways to enlightenment and progress. The presence of dignitaries from various walks of life, including ministers, IAS officers, and diplomats, also added more gravitas to the occasion.

The honourable President commended the organisers for their tireless efforts in reigniting the passion for books in society. She emphasised that the growth of libraries is intertwined with the progress of culture and civilisation. She also signalled that libraries stand as a testament to the advancement of human societies and serve as guardians of knowledge through the ages.
