Dr. C.V. Raman University bags the World Education Award 2016

Bilapur: Bilapur-based Dr. CV Raman University (CVRU) has bagged the acclaimed World Education Award 2016 that was held recently in Dubai. CVRU, which was launched by the AISECT Group in 2006 as Central India’s first private university, has won the award for the ‘Best and Next Practices in Open and Distance Learning’ category. Mr. Abhishek Pandit (Governing Body Member, Dr. C.V. Raman University) received the award from Dr. Ayoub Kazim (Managing Director, Dubai Knowledge Village and Dubai International Academic City) and Mr. V. Radhakrishnan (State Minister of Education, Sri Lanka).
World Education Summit (WES), organized by Elets Technomedia, is the world’s premier platform on education for everyone who is passionate about education and learning. Over the years, the Summit has become the largest gathering of education leaders. WES 2016 aimed to recognize, highlight, honour and encourage leading models, projects, processes of excellence and sustainable innovation in school and higher education. The Awards, which were a part of the Summit, saw entrepreneurs in the education space getting recognized, giving the award winners a platform to showcase their innovations and best practices. There were 70 award nominations across 40 categories.
Ever since its launch, CVRU has endeavored to offer world-class education which would equip students to fulfill the intellectual and manpower needs of the industry. The University has launched the Institute of Open & Distance Education (IODE) to provide advanced and high quality education to students even in the remotest corners of the country. IODE provides comprehensive guidance to students through study material, improvement of skills, acquisition of professional qualifications, continuing education and professional development at workplace, self-enrichment through online advanced technologies, diversifying & updating of knowledge as well as empowerment through higher education even in the remote areas. In order to provide individualized support to the students pursuing its distance learning programmes, CVRU has a large number of study centers throughout the state of Chhattisgarh. At these study centres, students interact with the academic counselors and fellow students, refer to the books in digital library, watch and listen to the Audio-Visual programmes as well as interact with the coordinators on administrative & academic matters.

It is heartening that our hard work and efforts have been acknowledged at such a reputed international platform.”
Skill development is a mandatory part of the course curriculum at the Institute of Open & Distance Education (IODE) as the University intends to contribute extensively towards bridging the gap between demand and supply of skilled manpower for the industry. It has joined hands with the National Skill Development Corporation to skill and train the youth in a range of sectors such as IT, Computer, Hardware, Networking, Teacher Training, Banking, Retail, Telecommunication and financial services etc.
CVRU’s constant endeavor for improving the quality of education in the distance and open mode of learning has led to many effective outcomes for the students.
