Dr. Huma Vaseem secures CSIR grant of Rs. 40 lakh
ALIGARH : Dr. Huma Vaseem, Department of Zoology, Aligarh Muslim University has been awarded a prestigious research grant of approximately Rs. 40 lakh from the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), under the Emerging Investigators Research (EMR)-II/ASPIRE scheme.
Dr. Vaseem’s groundbreaking work has long been recognized for her contributions in understanding the impact of toxicants on aquatic organisms and their remediation using fungi. With this grant, she is supposed to make advances in the knowledge and suggest novel solutions to pressing challenges in her field.
She said that the decontamination of toxicants using living organisms is a promising approach to clean the polluted water and she will further the studies in deleterious effect of toxicants on fish, primarily consumed by humans as high-quality protein food.
She expressed gratitude to the department and the university administration for providing support and other essential resources that enabled her to disseminate her research ideas.
