Dr Muhammad Rafiuddin Farooqui delivers K A Nizami Memorial Lecture
Aligarh: Noted Islamic scholar, Dr Muhammad Rafiuddin Farooqui delivered the K A Nizami Memorial Lecture on ?Salient Features of the Prominent Quran Commentaries in the Indo-Pak Subcontinent? and delineated various Quranic commentaries and explications produced in the Indian sub-continent. The lecture was organised by the K A Nizami Centre for Quranic Studies, Aligarh Muslim University.
He discussed how Sir Syed, Abul Kalam Azad, Muhammad Shafi, Syed Mawdudi and Amin Ahsan Islahi in their works attempted to provide elucidation, explanation, interpretation and context for clear understanding of the Holy Quran.
Prof Masood Ahmad (Former Dean, Faculty of Life Sciences) presided over the function.
Prof Abdur Raheem Kidwai (Director, Centre for Quranic Studies) also spoke on the occasion.
Prof Wazahat Husain (Former Chairman, Dept of Botany) and Prof Abdul Khaliq (Former Chairman, Dept of Sunni Theology) also spoke on the occasion.
Mr Arshad Iqbal (Convener of the Forum) conducted the programme.
