Dr Samoon discusses district plan formulation for Bandipora
Bandipora: Principal Secretary, Skill Development Department, Dr Asgar Hasan Samoon, today chaired an online meeting to discuss modalities for formulation of district plan for Bandipora besides reviewing development issues of the district.
The meeting was attended by District Development Commissioner, Dr Owais Ahmad, Additional District Development Commissioner, Bandipora, Afsar Ali Khan, Joint Director, Planning, Imtiyaz Ahmad, PRI functionaries and other district officers.
Dr Samoon had a detailed review of each development sector covered in the plan formulation with wider consultation of PRIs and other stakeholders. He asked for enhancing allocation for Urban Development and Youth Services and Sports sectors. He instructed the officers to pre-plan an effective mechanism for implementation during the current pandemic situation for timely completion of vital development works.
He endorsed the development issues raised by the DDC regarding Wullar Boulevard project, Bandipora bypass Road and Tourism related infrastructure.
Meanwhile, DDC gave a detailed Power Point Presentation about achievements recorded in the district during 2020-21 besides plan highlights of 2021-22. He informed that District Hospital Bandipora has been completed and made operational during the current financial year besides four other major projects including Gujjar and Bakerwal hostel Bandipora at the cost of Rs 3.25 crore , Polytechnic College Bandipore at the cost of Rs 18.00 crore, Dak Banglow Gurez at the cost of Rs 3.25 crore and Indoor Stadium Shadipora at the cost of Rs 4.83 crore.
He informed that Wullar Dredging Project is being completed at the cost of Rs 200.00 crore and the work is in progress. He also highlighted that under new initiatives the area of Burnai-Tulail has been provided mobile network for the first time. In addition, 900 solar street lights have been installed in 123 villages and 3 towns of Bandipora while 1175 works including 6 school buildings, 6 roads, 3 irrigation schemes and related projects have been completed during last financial year.
Dr Owais further stated that Rs 529 crore are being earmarked for the financial year 2021-22 with major thrust on Jal Jeevan Mission (51%), PMGSY (21%), Rural Development Department (8%), Education & Health (8%). He said 3489 works have been targeted for completion for the financial year 2021-22 which included 114 Water Supply Schemes, 24 PMGSY works, 23 Urban Development works, 11 works of education, 7 hospitals, 13 roads, 9 Irrigation schemes and 1800 MGNREGA works.
After threadbare discussion, Dr Samoon approved the Rs 529 crore draft CAPEX budget 2021-22 for Bandipora district.
