Dr. Z A Dental College Marks National Oral Hygiene Day
Aligarh : The Department of Periodontia and Community Dentistry at Dr Ziauddin Ahmad Dental College, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), in collaboration with the Indian Society of Periodontology, commemorated National Oral Hygiene Day with a series of activities to promote oral health awareness.
Chairperson Dr Neha Agrawal emphasized the focus of the 2024 campaign on the crucial connection between oral health and overall health. She stated, “A Happy Mouth is a Happy Body.” The goal is to empower everyone, everywhere to value and care for their mouths, understanding that by doing so; they can also safeguard their general well-being.
The highlight of the observance was the distribution of toothpaste and toothbrushes to 138 patients who visited the Outpatient Department (OPD) on August 1. Each patient received personalized brushing hygiene instructions and was educated on the detrimental effects of harmful oral habits, including tobacco consumption.
The department organized a lecture series to sensitize undergraduate students about the importance of oral hygiene. Faculty members delivered lectures on selected topics related to periodontal health, providing students with valuable insights and practical knowledge.
The event was supervised by Prof. Vivek Kumar Sharma and guided by Prof. Afshan Bey, Dr. Saif Khan, and Dr. Afaf Zia.
The observance of National Oral Hygiene Day at ZADC reflects the importance of proactive dental care and the need for continuous education in maintaining oral health.
