‘Driving Skill Awareness Training’ for DL seekers held at Kulgam
Kulgam: In a bid to impart a sense of road safety among drivers and riders in the district, Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) Kulgam on Saturday launched a new initiative ‘Driving Skill Awareness Training’ as part of celebration of National Road Safety Month, here.
During this programme all Driving License seekers will get refresher training from MVD officials.
The Safety Instructor, Manzoor Ahmad (Motor Vehicle Inspector) held a theory session for DL applicants on road rules, road signs, marking, riding gear and posture explanation besides safe driving practices. A demonstration on following safety practices before driving a vehicle was also held.
The applicants for a Driving License took training in batches and after the completion of session they were allowed to take the driving test.
Speaking on the occasion, Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Kulgam, Dr Mohammad Zubair Lattoo said that the demonstration was the main part of todays event as most of the drivers do not follow the basic safety procedures before driving the vehicle which results in hazardous accidents. So to aware the public about safer road techniques will change their attitude while on the roads.
He said the driving skill awareness training programme is unique as it merges education with enforcement and now, all new Learner License/Driving License seekers will get basic training on defensive driving, traffic rules, road signs and necessary safety measures to be a responsible road user. This will result in significant fall in road related accidents.
