Dronacharya award to Shajapur’s Shri Yogesh Malviya and Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award to Shri Satyendra Singh of Gwalior
Bhopal : Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has lauded and congratulated two sportspersons of Madhya Pradesh for winning the National Award. Mallakhamb coach Shri Yogesh Malviya of Shajapur, Madhya Pradesh, has been awarded the Dronacharya Award and Disabled Para Swimmer of Gwalior Shri Satyendra Singh Lohia has been awarded the Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan has said that both the players have made the state proud by receiving national awards in the field of Mallakhamb and swimming. We are proud of you.
Mallakhamb has been conferred state sport status by the Madhya Pradesh government. Shri Yogesh Malviya has made his unique contribution as Mallakhamb sports coach. He has been awarded the Vishwamitra Award by the Madhya Pradesh government in the year 2012 and by Sports Authority of India for outstanding performance of Mallakhamb in the year 2018.
Disabled Para Swimmer Shri Satyendra Singh Lohia, crossed the Catalina Channel in a short span of 11 hours 34 minutes and became the first Asian swimmer to cross the English Channel in 12 hours 24 minutes to enter the Limca Book of World Records. He has bagged a total of 28 medals in four International and seven National Para Swimming Championships. He was awarded the state’s highest sports honour Vikram Award in the year 2014 by the Madhya Pradesh government.
