DSEJ concludes Mental Health Week activities

 

JAMMU: ‘Mental Health Week which was being observed by the Directorate of School Education Jammu under the supervision and able guidance of Dr. Ravi Shankar Sharma DSEJ in schools across Jammu Division concluded today.

Under the initiative, a number of activities were organised by Counselling Cells constituted at every HS/HSS schools of Jammu Division. More than 2000 schools of Jammu Division participated in it.

Government of India, under its flagship programme ‘Manodarpan’ aims to provide psychosocial support to students, teachers and families for mental health and emotional well-being during COVID outbreak and beyond. In this context, mental health week was observed during which different activities viz. Poster making, slogan writing, elocuting, performing arts, etc. were organised in schools. Self-reflective exercises were also conducted through different art forms in which students did their self-analysis and acquainted themselves about their innate self. Story telling sessions were also conducted.

The greatest achievement of this week was the creation of Happiness Zones/Psychological safe Zones/ Let’s Talk zones within school premises for students to talk about their thoughts and emotions.

Besides these, Youth Parliaments were conducted in which students enthusiastically held discussions on mental health concerns. ‘Nukhad Nataks’ and ‘Role Plays’ on effects of bullying, addiction, negative emotions, etc. were also organised.

On the concluding day, a motivational talk by Dr. Geetanjali Kumar as organised in which she addressed various issues related to mental health.
