DSEJ hosts webinar on ‘Safeguarding Children of J&K from substance Abuse’

Jammu: International Day against Drug Abuse 2020 was observed by Directorate of School Education Jammu in collaboration with UNICEF India by organising a webinar on Safeguarding Children of J&K from substance Abuse, here today.
Dr. Vinod Dhar, Psychiatrist and De-addiction Specialist, HELP Rehabilitation Home, Dr. Gurmeet Kour, Psychiatrist and De-addiction Specialist , Police Hospital Jammu, Dr. Syed Karar, Child Psychiatrist, IMHANS, Dr. Muzaffar Khan, Director-Youth Development Centre, J&K Police and Romesh Sharma, Head, Counselling cell DSEJ were the key speakers on the occasion.
The webinar laid main emphasis on recognizing early signs of substance abuse, prevention and diversion tactics and how to counsel the students in the schools.
The webinar was attended live by students, teachers, parents and counsellors from across the UT. It was live on Facebook. More than 200 teachers/ counsellors attended it online.
The DSEJ also hosted an online drawing competition for students of Jammu Division on drug abuse/ effects of drugs. The competition will remain open from 26th June to 28th June,2020. The winner will be judged on the basis of originality of ideas.
Meanwhile, the Director School Education Jammu, Anuradha Gupta, in her message stressed upon the student to become Brand Ambassadors for Anti Drug addiction.” If you want to get addicted, get addicted to your passion”, she added.
The programme was moderated by Danish Aziz, Educationist Specialist, UNICEF. Mr. Manbir from JKKN provided Technical support whereas Alka Sharma and counsellor Shanti Saroop Sharma helped in the smooth conduct of this webinar.
