DSEJ Organises Art workshop at GHSS Gandinagar; Artist Rouble Nagi launches Misaal Jammu
Jammu: Directorate of School Education Jammu today organised an ‘Art workshop’ here at Government Boys Higher Secondary School Gandhi Nagar whereat artist Rouble Nagi from Mumbai interacted with the students and imparted oriented them towards fine arts, with special focus on painting and drawing.
Director School Education, Jammu, Anuradha Gupta, in her message to the students and staff members, reminded them about the New Education Policy 2020, which lays special emphasis on sports, arts and other allied activities. She said that what earlier used to be bracketed as extra-curricular activity is now part of the daily curriculum as integral component of teaching- learning process and education system.
Exhorting the students to give wings to their imagination, the Director asked them to immerse themselves in the creative world for wholesome development of mental faculty and personality.
The event was organised under the Public Contribution Initiative (PCI) started by the Directorate of School Education Jammu wherein society at large is expected and invited to contribute in the development of educational facilities in government schools.
It is pertinent to mention here that many people are coming forward and making donations such as computers and laptops for classes, books for libraries, sports equipment while in some cases individuals have undertaken to build additional classrooms, lavatories etc in government schools.
Artist, Rouble Nagi’s workshop too was conducted by the Directorate under PCI scheme and supplemented the ongoing facelift initiative undertaken to refurbish, renovate and beautify school buildings and other infrastructure. She introduced the students to the world of wall painting and drawing and they together painted walls of the school building and beautified them with drawing and colours.
On the occasion, ‘ Misaal Jammu ‘ was also launched by Rouble Nagi who is also the founder of “Rouble Nagi Art Foundation” and “Misaal Mumbai/India” initiative. “The main aim is to connect people to art, bring a positive change in their mindset. Educating and empowering through art is our motto”, Nagi said.
Principal BHSS Gandhi Nagar, Shafqat; Research Officers SCERT, Tapasya Sharma, Rakhi Atri, Shifali Gupta, besides Media Coordinator DSEJ, Mir Yasser Rasool, were present on the occasion.
