DU top Educational Institution in India
Jalandhar: Publisher of world’s top educational institutes and universities’ ranking; International body ‘uniRank’ has recently released 2018 ranking list of top Indian institutes. Here, University of Delhi (DU) New Delhi has been considered the top university of the country; whereas, Lovely Professional University (LPU) Punjab stands at fifth place only after three IITs (Kanpur, Madras & Bombay ranked at number 2, 3 and 4 respectively). The prestigious ranking has covered all public & private 878 institutions of India.
IIT Kharagpur (West Bengal) is the 6th best; IIT Delhi (New Delhi) 8th, VIT University (Tamil Nadu) 11th, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (Uttar Pradesh) 14th best, Punjab University (Chandigarh) 15th; IISc (Bangalore) 18th; University of Rajasthan (Jaipur) 19th best; University of Lucknow 29th; IIT Rorkee 30th; University of Kerala 36th; University of Hyderabad 39th; Kurukshetra University 43rd; University of Pondicherry 45th; BHU Varanasi 46th; TISS Mumbai 55th; CU Mohali 80th; GNDU Amritsar 122nd and so on.
This year, uniRank has published the 2018 Indian University Ranking of 878 recognized Indian higher-education institutions chronologically for their being the most popular in India. Here, the objective is to reflect the popularity of the universities’ web pages. It provides the opportunity to obtain information about how the university or college is popular for the national and international students and academic staff.
Highlighting, with 1,412,427 Face-book Likes, LPU has also been ranked among top ten popular universities of the world, including Harvard University (US, Estd in 1636) ranked 1st; Oxford University (UK 1899) 2nd; Limkokwing University (Malaysia Estd 1991) 6th; Cambridge University (UK 1899) 7th; and, SGT Gurgaon at 9th place. Worth mentioning, established just 13 years ago in 2005, LPU has gained popularity in line with many prestigious institutions, not only of the country but world also, established since 1636 onwards.
Editor in Chief of the Search Engine ‘uniRank’ has informed on its website: “Our aim is to provide a non-academic ‘League Table’ of the top Indian Universities based on valid, unbiased and non-influence able web metrics provided by independent web intelligence sources rather than data submitted by the covered ‘Universities’ themselves.” Noteworthy, published twice a year-in January and July, uniRank is ‘World Universities ‘directory’ and a ‘search engine’ searching 13,600 universities and colleges worldwide from North America, Latin America, Europe, Africa, Asia and Oceania.
The uniRank selection criteria was based on the factors that the institutions must be accredited by the appropriate Indian higher education-related organization; offering bachelor or master or doctoral degrees; and, delivering courses in a traditional, face-to-face, non-distance education format. Ranking is made on the algorithm based on 5 independent web measurements obtained from 4 web sources.
