Duke University: Recipent Of Pioneering Heart Implant Celebrates 40th Birthday With Family

Less than a month after Duke Cardiology patient Matthew Moore received a new-generation artificial heart, he has another reason to celebrate. This week, the Moore family joined Matthew for his 40th birthday party. Duke Heart surgeons placed the first-in-North-America device in his chest in mid-July.

Matthew, wife Rachel and son Marshall celebrated at Duke University Hospital. The family is from Shallotte, North Carolina.
