Durham University: Durham ranked 6th in UK university guide
This follows our Top 5 position in the recently published Guardian Good University Guide. These latest rankings further consolidate our position as a leading UK and global university.
This year our position has improved in the Complete University Guide, the THE Global Impact Rankings and the QS World University Rankings 2021. We were the only university in the UK to show an increase in our position in all three of these rankings.
Graduate prospects
In the latest league table, Durham scores highly for teaching quality and student experience.
The new guide also recognises the success of our students after they finish their degrees with 84.5 per cent of our students in high-skilled jobs or postgraduate study 15 months after graduating.
Student life
At Durham, we’re really proud of our student experience programme which gives everyone the opportunity to take part in activities such as drama, music, sport and volunteering.
Over 75 per cent of our students engage in sport or physical activity and we’ve recently redeveloped our Sport and Wellbeing Park offering fantastic facilities for our students, staff and local community. We also have national centres of excellence in cricket, tennis, rowing and hockey, endorsed by their respective governing bodies.
There are more than 25 theatre companies across the University all led and run by our students with opportunities to work on a wide range of productions. Many are performed in our very own 175-seat Assembly Rooms Theatre which has recently undergone a £2million renovation.
Learning environment
Investment in state-of-the-art facilities continues to be a priority and we’ve recently opened a new Teaching and Learning Centre, which was recognised by the Royal Institute of British Architects as providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for teaching and learning.
In addition, we have two new Colleges and a new home for our Mathematical Sciences and Computer Science departments.
Of course, we also consider ourselves very lucky to be in the historic surroundings of Durham City, with its famous Castle and Cathedral.
