DWP J&K, WD Kashmir organises painting/ poster making competition

 

SRINAGAR : On the occasion of ‘Iconic Week’ being celebrated as part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav’ campaign regarding Wetland events, a ‘painting/ poster making competition’ was today organized by the Department of Wildlife Protection J&K Government, Wetlands Division Kashmir.

The competition was organised in collaboration with National Society for Protection of Water Resources, Forests and Wetlands at the camping ground of Hokersar Wetland Reserve (RAMSAR-site).

Students of various schools participated in the competition organised with the theme ‘Importance and Sustenance of the Wetlands, their role for the sustenance of the human being’.

Earlier, Suhail Yusuf Qazi, Range Officer, Wildlife Protection Range Lakes (Hokersar), highlighted the role of healthy wetlands in reducing the impacts of extreme events such as floods, droughts and cyclones on communities and in helping to build resilience.

Rahi Reyaz, Vice Chairman National Society for Protection of Water Resources, Forest & Wetlands, and other dignitaries besides various officers and officials of the department participated in the function.

Zeenat Rahi from Rahi Public School bagged the 1st position, Rabia Rasheed of Islamic Educational Institute secured 2nd position while Shafat Rahi of Rahi Public School got the 3rd position in the competition.
