DXC Technology and Samarthanam Advance Digital Literacy for Marginalized Rural and Migrant Urban Students in Government Schools

Bengaluru: DXC Technology (NYSE: DXC) and Samarthanam, a national award-winning non-government organization (NGO), are jointly supporting 100 smart classrooms in government schools across India to advance digital literacy among marginalized rural and migrant urban children. By providing early exposure and access to digital technology, this cooperative initiative aims to promote quality education, reduce dropout rates among students, and help re-skill government schoolteachers through expert guidance and support.

 

The inauguration ceremony of the smart classrooms took place on Tuesday, September 07, 2021, in the presence of Shri B.C. Nagesh, Hon’ble Minister for Primary and Secondary Education, GoK, and Shri Omkar G. Rao, Director, Service Delivery, DXC Technology. Also joining the ceremony were Shri Satish Reddy, MLA, Bommanahalli Constituency, Shri V. Anbukkumar, I.A.S, Commissioner for Public Instruction; Shri S. Rajendra, Deputy Director of Public Instruction; Shri Kupendra Reddy; former MP Rajya Sabha; and Shri Gurumurthy Reddy, Ex Corporator, BBMP, Karnataka Public School, Agara.

 

“The onset of the COVID-19 crisis and sudden switch and overdependence on digital technologies for continued education presents a roadblock, particularly for the disadvantaged strata of society,” said Lokendra Sethi, Head, Human Resources, DXC Technology India. “By providing students across India with an early access to technology, we are helping to bridge the technological gap that is more prevalent today than ever before.
