Eco Achievers Quiz held at The Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet
Hyderabad: Rotary Club of Hyderabad Deccan of Rotary District 3150 together with Saevus magazine, the country’s foremost nature and wildlife magazine today organised SAEVUS ECO ACHIEVERS QUIZ at The Hyderabad Public School,Begumpet.
The objective behind this quiz was to help develop a strong environmental consciousness among school children.
Twenty Four City Schools such as HPS, Gitanjali, DPS, Kalpa, Future Kids and TIME participated. All together 58 teach and 174 kids participated. The quiz Master was Rajiv D Silva. Kalpa School emerged as the winner and walked away with certificates, Trophy and school bags.
The Eco-Achievers Quiz was a hugely successful and the first of its kind programme run by Saevus magazine celebrating its vision of ‘conservation through appreciation’ with an aim to develop a strong environmental consciousness among schoolchildren. The theme of the quiz was “Juxta” whereby the students were questioned about nature and wildlife related topics from all walks of life like literature, science, movies, mythology, etc.
Teams of three comprising students from standards 5th, 6th and 7th standards took part, championing the cause of the natural world. Schools could send upto three teams, accompanied by at least one teacher; there was no participation fee. The quiz was organized in association with Rotary Clubs in 40 plus cities across the country with winners from these rounds going through to the national finale in Mumbai. Over 30,000 children across the country took part in SaevusEco Achievers programs last year.
Saevus Eco Achievers Olympiad &Quiz programmes are endorsed by the CEC Commission of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (www.iucn.org), the foremost organisation in the world in the conservation space. Every certificate given to students will bear the signature of an IUCN dignitary. Further, Seavus offers an exposure to the students to the resource and minds at IUCN and a chance to showcase their work on a global platform.
