Ecoclub PSPS GCW Gandhinagar organises extension lecture on Climate change & Carbon Trading
JAMMU : Eco-club of Padma Shree Padma Sachdev Government College for Women GandhiNagar, under the aegis of Paryavaran Sanrakshan gatividhi, has initiated a special series of activities under the theme ‘One week One Nation’.
Under the series three activities are being conducted by the College to spread awareness about environmental conservation.
The event began with a lecture on ‘Climate Change and Carbon trading ‘ delivered by Dr.Harish Chander Dutt, Sr. Assistant professor from the Department of Botany,University of Jammu.
In his talk he explained in detail about the consequences of Climate Change and preventive measures which can be taken to cut emissions. He also discussed advantages and disadvantages of Carbon trading. The programme started with the formal welcome address by Dr.Harjeet Kour Sodhi,Convenor,Eco-club. Chief guest on the occasion was Prof. Minu Mahajan, Principal of the College, in her address, encouraged the students to go for conservation and protection of nature on a daily basis as a single day would not be sufficient for it as their consistent smaller efforts can bring major changes.
Programme was attended by the students of the Department of Environmental sciences and Botany and faculty members of the college and anchored by Prof.Sugandha Mahajan. The formal vote of thanks was presented by Prof.Nisha Bhagat.
Members of Eco-club Dr.Rahul Sharma, Prof. Eisha Gohil,Prof.Shivani Sawhney, Dr.Suraj Mohani,Prof Swarn Singh and Dr.Ravinder Kumar coordinated the whole event.
