EDII organises sports and painting competitions for differently-abled on the eve of International Day of Persons with Disabilities

Ahmedabad : The Centre for Empowerment of Differently Abled (CEDA) of Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), Ahmedabad, on Friday organised sports and painting competitions for the differently-abled on the eve of International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The Chief Guests of the event were Shri Rajinder Singh Rahelu (Arjuna Awardee) and Shri Sachin Chaudhary (Paralympian).

 

CEDA is supported by the Directorate of Social Defense and Gujarat State Handicapped (Divyang) Finance and Development Corporation, Social Justice and Empowerment Department, Govt. of Gujarat. Through an all-inclusive approach, the Centre for Empowerment of Differently Abled focuses on enhancing employability skills; capacity building for entrepreneurship and socially relevant income-generating activities; promoting empowerment for independent living, livelihoods and community relationships.

 

77 players (56 Male and 21 Female) from various parts of Gujarat took part in the events which included badminton, carom, chess and table tennis. 35 students from 5 participating schools including School for Deaf & Mute, Ahmedabad; Apang Manav Mandal, Ahmedabad (Boys School); Apang Manav Mandal, Ahmedabad (Girls School); K S Dedhiya Muk Badhir Vidhya Mandir and Samarpan Muk-Badhir Shisu Vidya Mandir took part in the painting competition.

 

The winners of these events will be felicitated on December 3, 2022 (at EDII) in an event to observe the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
