“Education and labor market cooperation in training of competitive employees” International seminar
On September 16-17 an International seminar on “Education and labor market cooperation in training of competitive employees” took place at Wyndham hotel in Tashkent. It was organized by the initiative of State Inspectorate for Supervision of Quality in Education (SISQE) under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the support of UNESCO Tashkent Office jointly with the Ministry of Higher and Secondary special education, the Ministry of employment and labor relations. Representatives from the European Union Delegation to Uzbekistan, UNICEF office in Uzbekistan, British Council office in Uzbekistan, World Bank office in Uzbekistan, Asian Development Bank office in Uzbekistan, Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Uzbekistan-Switzerland project, German Corporation for International Cooperation GmbH (GIZ), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the German People’s Union (DVV) branch and the National Office of Erasmus+ as well as Rectors of National Universities participated at the event.
UNESCO’s International experts from the EU funded “Skills Development for Employability in Rural Areas” project shared information on:
International experience in implementing the National Qualification Framework (Jean Marc Castejon),
System of ensuring the quality of education in higher education (Belinda Smith),
System of development of skills in Uzbekistan, Public Private Partnership (Lyn Stanton).
In his welcoming speech Head of UNESCO Tashkent Office a.i Mr. Alexandros K. Makarigakis stated that: “UNESCO, through the EU funded project seeks to offer assistance to the Government of Uzbekistan to fully utilize and implement National Qualification Frameworks and Quality Assurance to enhance the skill production system in the agriculture and irrigation sectors, as well as to fully operationalize Sector Skills Council for agriculture and irrigation. These two very important sectors will be the first of many to follow, that can adopt the benefits deriving from National Qualification Frameworks and Quality Assurance. We are all very conscious of the responsibility of being pioneers in this direction and in the production of an easily adaptable and replicable methodology for future use”. Video of the speech.
The aim of the event was to create effective coordination and cooperation in the implementation of the tasks set out in the video-selector meeting dedicated to the priority issues in the higher education system, held on June 16, 2021 under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan H.E Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
