Education day celebrated at Aligarh Muslim University

 

Aligarh: Shahin won the first prize in the slogan writing competition held at the Centre of Continuing and Adult Education and Extension, Aligarh Muslim University to mark the national education day on the occasion of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad’s birth anniversary. Priya and Kausar Jahan won second and third prizes, respectively, while special prizes was given to Subhana Khan. Fifty-two learners attached to the centre participated in the event.

Addressing a programme on the occasion, Professor Saleem Akhtar (former Dean, Faculty of Law) and Director, Marwa Group of Education Institutions, Noida highlighted the importance of female education while Professor Seemin Hasan underlined the importance of education and urged the adult education learners to work for sensitizing people on women’s issues through education.

Earlier, welcoming the guests, Professor Mohammad Gulrez, Director of the centre underscored reasons for celebrating education day. He urged the learners to get acquainted with Maulana Azad’s contributions in nation building.

Professor Aysha Munira Rasheed and Dr Ghufran Hashmi also addressed on the occasion.

Ms Musharraf Jahan proposed a vote of thanks.

Earlier, the Aligarh Muslim University Girls’ School organized a fete marking the children’s day celebrations. Class I students together inaugurated the event while several groups of students from different classes organized a variety of stalls providing food, games, horse riding and other entertainment activities.
