Education Deptt holds Wetland Conservation programme by at Budgam
BUDGAM : A daylong awareness programme on the need to Conserve Wetland was held at Higher Secondary School Narkara, here.
The programme was organised by the Office of Chief Education Office, Budgam to sensitise the public regarding the need and challenge for conserving Wetland. In this regard School Education Department Budgam launched a cleanliness/awareness campaign on the directions of District Development Commissioner, Budgam.
The participants were informed that the settlements have come up very close to the perimeter of wetlands particularly Hokersar wetland, the irresponsible behavior of the local inhabitants having tendency to throw solid waste including single use plastic into the wetland, has adversely affected its ecology and biodiversity.
The campaign started from 26th of Marchand shall continue until 31st March.
Earlier, various schools of zone Soibugh participated in the drive under ECO club activity calendar.
Today another drive was organized in High School Narkara to save Narkara wetlands, in this campaign seven schools participated. The drive was inaugurated by Syed Mohammed Amin, Chief Education Officer Budgam.
The CEO while interacting with the students and general public, stressed upon cleanliness of the wetland and zero use of plastic. The students marched throughout the Narkara village raising slogans aimed at conserving Wetlands. The drive later on took part in the cleanliness of the wetland.
