Education & Health, priority sectors for State Government : Balbir Singh Sidhu

Chandigarh: “Education and Health are the priority sectors in the scheme of things of the State Government which is always striving to upgrade the infrastructure in these two, so as to ensure quality education as well as sound health for our future generations.” These views were expressed here today by the Health and Family Welfare Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu at the Government Primary School, Village Rurka on the occasion of handing over a cheque of Rs. 10 lakh for construction of rooms at the school.

Exhorting the students to excel both in studies as well as the sports, The minister said no stone is being left unturned to transform the condition of the schools of the constituency and the schools of Villages Gobindgarh and Gigemajra are a great example of this who have excelled in academic field.

The Health Minister further said that each school of the constituency is being given facelift in a phasewise manner and today’s grant has been given out of the local area development fund of the Lok Sabha MP from Sri Anandpur Sahib, Mr. Manish Tewari. The minister also called upon the panchayats, NRIs and progressive youth to come forward for contributing towards changing the face of the schools.

Among others present on the occasion included the Political Secretary to the minister and Chairman Market Committee Kharar Harkesh Chand Sharma Machhli Kalan, Sarpanch of Rurka Mr. Harjit Singh, Labh Singh, Balwinder Singh Panch, Kehar Kaur Panch, Davinder Singh Panch, Jarnail Singh, Kirpal Singh Nambardar, Dilbar Singh and Kulvinder Singh.
