Educational Courts for Schoolchildren
At the Institute of Economics and Law of PetrSU, training courts for schoolchildren were held.
The purpose of such model processes is the legal education of young people, the development of children’s skills in case analysis, competent legal argumentation, public speaking, teamwork, cooperation between schools, universities and the professional legal community.
On April 20 and 28 the tenth-graders of the Lyceum No. 1 in Petrozavodsk became guests of the Institute of Economics and Law. The model process took place in the courtroom of the Institute of Economics and Law. The members of the jury were teachers of the Department of Theory of Law and Civil Law Disciplines: Svetlana Anatolyevna Gabucheva, Elena Sergeevna Paltseva and Irina Yurievna Biserova. The children were offered the stories of specific civil disputes, it was necessary to analyze the materials, try on the role of a plaintiff or defendant, find appropriate arguments and publicly defend their position, showing analytical skills and oratory. According to the organizers of the event, all participants, without exception, successfully coped with the tasks and received well-deserved certificates, as well as brochures from the Institute of Economics and Law.
The training trials held were a successful “test of the pen”. We hope that next academic year the Institute of Economics and Law of PetrSU will become a full-fledged regional platform for holding a competition of training courts for schoolchildren. The materials for the model process were provided by the non-governmental institution of additional and additional professional education “St. Petersburg Institute of Law named after Prince PG Oldenburg”, which annually holds a competition of training courts for schoolchildren.
Thank you for your help in organizing the event, Tatyana Vladimirovna Vereshchagina, teacher of law, economics and social science, Lyceum No. 1. We hope for future fruitful cooperation
