Educational institutions hold awareness programs

 

JAMMU: Red Ribbon Club of Government P.G. College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, under the patronage of College Principal, Dr. Sangita Nagari organized a series of events to mark the observance of World AIDS Day.

The Department hosted a Webinar on World AIDS Day with Dr. Arun Sharma, Medical Superintendent, Maternity Hospital as the keynote speaker.

Dr Sharma delivered a talk highlighting the causes and prevention of AIDS and the need for creating awareness. He emphasized on the importance of counselling and guidance for HIV positive patients.

The proceedings of the webinar were conducted by Dr. Revika Arora, Convenor/Nodal officer and vote of thanks was delivered by Prof. Ambica. Over 70 students of the college, faculty members and red ribbon club committee members attended the webinar.

Meanwhile, to create awareness for the cause, Balloon Raising ceremony was held in which red balloons were released in air by Principal of the College, Dr. Sangita Nagari, Red Ribbon Club members, Prof. Revika Arora, Nodal Officer, Prof. Abhinav, Prof. Manmeet, Prof. Ambica, Prof. Kusum and student volunteer team, Shivani Rasgotra, Ananya Jain and Mishi Dranch. Prof. B.D.Sehgal, Prof. Mohinderpal and Prof. Anupama were also present on the occasion.

The students of College displayed beautiful posters and slogans depicting the cause. In the end, a pledge taking ceremony was organized with the aim to create awareness and raise concern for the cause.

GDC Ukhral: Government Degree College Ukhral organized an awareness programme on World AIDS Day on the college campus.

The theme for the 2021 “End Equalities, End AIDS” was well brought home. The programme started with the welcome address by the Patron of the college Dr. Ranvijay Singh. He urged the audience that knowing Aids and taking precautions is the only cure available to eradicate this menace from mother earth. Presentations about precautions, characteristics and results were presented by the students of the college.

A detailed and graphic presentation with the latest data was presented by Dr. Akhter Rasool of the Department of Environmental Science.

Other staff members namely Dr. Shafiq Ahmad Katoch, Prof . Zakir Hussain and Dr. Altaf Rasool also shared their opinions about the dreadful disease under discussion. Many senior citizens were present in the programme and they applauded the College for conducting such informative programmes in the campus.
