Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi at AMU
Aligarh : The Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi will be celebrated with traditional festivities at Aligarh Muslim University. A consultative meeting in this regard was held under the chairmanship of Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. Mohammad Gulrez on Saturday.
“The festival of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi will be celebrated as per the visibility of the moon. The main function will be held at Kennedy Auditorium while week-long celebrations including inter hall competitions will also be organised,” Prof. Gulrez said during the meeting.
As per past tradition, the Seerat Committee under the convenorship of the Chairman, Department of Sunni Theology will organise Inter-Hall competitions. Programs will also be held at Women’s College, Senior Secondary School (Girls), Sayyid Hamid Senior Secondary School, and AMU Girls School. Students will also recite Naat during the program Main landmark buildings and gates of the University will be illuminated.
An exhibition of books on Seerat will be organised in Maulana Azad Library for two days while Arabic Calligraphy works will be exhibited on the lawn of Kennedy Auditorium. Speeches by eminent Islamic scholars will also be organised.
The meeting was attended by several University officials including Dean, Faculty of Theology, Chairman, Departments of Shia/Sunni Theology, University Librarian, Provosts of Halls of Residences, and Principals of AMU Schools among others.
