Eindhoven University of Technology ranks as most international university in terms of faculty
According to the QS World University Rankings 2024, TU/e is the most international university in the Netherlands in terms of the composition of the academic staff. Regarding employer reputation and citations per academic – a measure of scientific impact – TU/e comes in second in the Netherlands.
The QS World University Rankings are among the three oldest and most influential university rankings and compare approximately 1,500 universities worldwide. TU/e stands at 124 in the overall QS rankings, 14 places higher than last year. TU/e also scores well on the ratio of faculty to students, ranking third in the Netherlands.
Robert-Jan Smits, President of the TU/e Executive Board: “It’s enormously important that our researchers score so well in regard to citations per faculty because excellence is the foundation for everything at the university. Excellent talent makes for the best research and education and we achieve this partly because we are so successful at attracting top international talent. I’m proud of the first place that we’ve accomplished for this QS indicator. We greatly need this international academic staff. The academic world is fully international, our graduates usually go on to work in fully international organizations in the Brainport region and it has been proven that working in diverse, international teams leads to better results and personal development. We are therefore concerned about Minister Dijkgraaf’s plans to curb the international character of Dutch universities.”
For the new QS indicator Sustainability, TU/e did not provide data, due to the large amount of data requested. This results in a low ranking on this aspect. The university is considering supplying the sustainability data for the next editions of the QS-ranking, because the low ranking on this aspect does not do justice to the focus of TU/e on sustainability and the exceptional efforts in this area. Incidentally, the TU/e achieved fourth place on the Sustainabul ranking this year.
