Eindhoven University of Technology shines in CWTS Ranking 2023

As with all previous editions of the CWTS Leiden Ranking, TU/e has a place in the global top 10 of universities with the strongest research collaboration with industry. In the fields of Mathematics & Computer Science and Biomedical & Health Sciences, TU/e even comes in at third worldwide.

The CWTS Leiden Ranking 2023 compares the scientific output of over 1,400 universities from 2018 to 2021. During that period, 15% of all scientific TU/e publications came about in tandem with industrial partners. 61% of all scientific TU/e publications arose from international research collaborations during the same period.

In terms of the strength of research collaboration with industry, TU/e ranks sixth worldwide. This is mainly the result of TU/e’s very strong ties with the high-tech industry in the Brainport region, with companies such as ASML, Philips, NXP and Signify.

“The CWTS figures again demonstrate how strong and important TU/e’s position is in Brainport’s innovation ecosystem,” says TU/e President Robert-Jan Smits. “And this position is only getting stronger. In the past year, we signed agreements with ASML, NXP and Thermo Fisher Scientific in order to strengthen our research collaboration. ASML is even bringing its R&D to the TU/e campus and building a new cleanroom here to this end. In addition, the ranking clearly shows how especially strong our international character is.”
