‘Ekal Nagrik Database’ to be prepared in Madhya Pradesh
Bhopal : The Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that work to prepare ‘Ekal Nagrik Database’ will be started soon in the state. At present, information is sought frequently from citizens to provide benefits of various schemes. Once the Ekal Nagrik Database is ready, there is no need for the citizens to provide the information repeatedly. The information available with the government will be used to provide benefits of various schemes.
Shri Chouhan was holding the meeting in context to preparing ‘Ekal Nagrik Database’ at Mantralaya today. The Chief Secretary Shri Iqbal Singh Bains, Principal Secretary Planning, Economics and Statistics Shri Manoj Govil, Principal Secretary Shri Nitesh Vyas were present at the meeting.
Separate registrations for different schemes at present
It is to be mentioned that currently about 600 to 700 beneficiaries oriented schemes are implemented in the state. Separate registration of beneficiaries is done to provide benefit of these schemes. On one hand, the government machinery has to spend a lot of time, while the citizens also have to provide information repeatedly. Shri Chouhan said that the creation of ‘Ekal Nagrik Datbase’ will save the time of government machinery, while the new system will be more convenient for the citizens.
System implemented in Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana
Chief Minister Shri Chouhan informed that at present, a citizen database has been created in the states of Rajasthan, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. In Rajasthan, this scheme has been implemented under the name of “Bhamashah” and in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana under the name of “Praja Sadhikar”.
No need to demand for documents repeatedly
Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that beneficiaries will not have to be asked for their documents repeatedly once the single citizen database is created. Once a citizen’s caste certificate is issued, his/her record will remain in a Ekal Database, so there will be no need to demand for caste certificate again to avail benefits of any other scheme.
This information will be available in database
Apart from the name, address etc. of the citizen, information related to his educational qualification, income certificate, caste certificate, land details, crop grown, bona fide certificate, BPL certificate etc. will be available in the Ekal Nagrik Database.
Developing a Single Database
The overall data will be improvised and biometric base will be used to develop the Ekal database. Also, the Ekal database will be developed by matching different types of data and verification of biometrics of the citizens. Arrangements will also be made to constantly update it.
