‘Elimination of Child Labour Week’ culminates with grand event at Ganderbal

Ganderbal : The Tehsil Legal Services Committee (TLSC) Ganderbal under the aegis of J&K Legal Services Authority Thursday celebrated ‘Elimination Of Child Labour Week’ in honour of World Day against Child Labour, at Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School Ganderbal, here.

The Programme was held under the guidance of Tabasum, Secretary District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Ganderbal and under the chairmanship of Waseem Mirza, Chairman Tehsil legal Services Committee Ganderbal.

The week long programme was conducted in different schools of the district in which teachers and students participated. During week long campaign Various programmes and activities were conducted by DLSA in different schools to raise awareness regarding ill consequences of child labour.

Today’s event marked the end of weeklong programme regarding Elimination Of Child Labour.

Principal Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School Ganderbal, Staff Members, PLVs and Students of the institution attended the Programme.

Speaking on the occasion, Advocate Sheikh Imran highlighted theme of this year “Universal Social Protection to End Child Labour” and said that the theme of the day focuses on increased investment in social protection schemes and systems to develop solid social protection mechanisms for protection from child labour.

He added the aim of observing programmes regarding child labour is to spread awareness about child labour and to take necessary measures to eradicate child labour from society. He further added that the eradication of child labour requires a systemic approach and effective policies to strengthen social protection systems, education, and decent work opportunities for parents and caregivers to address the conditions that drive child labour.

Students namely Minza, Towqeer ul Nissa, Sabiya, Mehvish and Muskaan enthusiastically participated and delivered their speech on “Elimination of child labour” in the said programme.

The event successfully ended with the vote of thanks presented by the Principal of the institution.
