Embassy of India, Seoul celebrated 76th Independence Day with active participation of members of Indian community
The Embassy of India, Seoul celebrated 76th Independence Day with active participation of members of Indian community at the Swami Vivekanand Cultural Center (SVCC) premises.
The event started with Ambassador Ms. Sripriya Ranganathan hoisting the National flag followed by singing of National Anthem. Ambassador read out the speech delivered by the Hon’ble President of India to the nation on the eve of 76th Independence Day. It was followed with congratulatory video messages given by Korean dignitaries including Mr. Cho Hyundong, 1st Vice Foreign Minister; Mr Park Minshik; Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs; Mr Eom Dong-hwan, Minister of Defense Acquisition Program Administration; Mr. Park Jong-seung, President of Agency for Defense Development; Mr. Hong Taeyong, Mayor of Gimhae City; Ms. Park Hee-young, Mayor of Yongsan-gu; Mr. Lee Seongheon, Mayor of Seodaemun-gu; Rep. Ahn Byung-gil and Rep. Lim Jeong-seong, Vice Chairmen of ROK-India Parliamentary Friendship Group.
Celebrating the true spirit of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, a number of cultural programs were performed by Embassy, Indian community members and Korean nationals. It included patriotic songs and dance performances.
The event concluded with Ambassador handing over medals to the winners of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav quiz organized by the Overseas Indian Affairs Division, MEA. Around 200 members of the Indian community residing in ROK attended the event. The event was also telecasted live on the embassy social media handles.
