Empowering women is our utmost priority: Aruna Chaudhary

Chandigarh: Taking another leap towards empowering women close to the International Women Day, Punjab Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Mrs. Aruna Chaudhary today handed over appointment letters to newly-appointed 92 Stenographers and Clerks included 41 girl employees.

Mrs. Chaudhary, while handed over the appointment letters to 5 girl stenographers and 87 clerks, which included 36 girls of Social Security, Women and Child Development Department at her official residence in Sector-39, expressed hope that the department’s performance will improve further after inclusion of these employees. She said that on the other hand, government’s commitment to empower the women of the state, has also accomplished. She exhorted the newly recruited employees to perform their duties with utmost dedication and devotion and don’t hesitate to directly share their ideas for improving the functioning of the department.

The Minister further said that Punjab Government has increased the budget for the pensions of Women, Old Age, Child and other pensioners by 31 per cent which amounts to Rs.2388 crore. She said that United Nations has also included the gender equality in the Sustainable Development Goals announced in 2015 and has set a deadline by 2030 to meet these goals. In this direction, the Punjab government is also making strenuous efforts to meet these targets in the state.

Among others Deputy Director Gurjinder Singh Maur, Private Secretary to the Minister Mr. Chiranji Lal were also present on the occasion.
