Enhanced Buckeye Link Website Delivers Tailored Experience for Ohio State Students
When students log in at The Ohio State University’s buckeyelink.osu.edu Monday morning, they’ll find an enhanced user experience with streamlined features that enable them to access a variety of resources in one site.
The system upgrade is co-led by Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) and the Office of Digital Technology and Innovation (ODTI). With a simpler, updated look, Buckeye Link still features popular links but now provides a personalized experience for each user, said Ben Hancock, ODTI director of applications development.
The project has been a collaborative, cross-university effort with a focus on student engagement. University Student Government has been a key partner.
“We’ve engaged students at every level as well as staff and faculty,” said Sam Falcone, a SEM senior systems analyst on the project. “We’ve conducted focus groups, individual interviews, and we’ve looked at surveys as well as getting feedback from the Ohio State mobile app – what do students want? What do they need? What do they like? What’s helpful?”
The enhanced Buckeye Link is designed to better provide students with personal, relevant and timely information about enrollment deadlines and fees, safety and news, along with quick links to manage Buckeye business.
When students log in at buckeyelink.osu.edu, a personalized dashboard appears with links to My Buckeye Link, announcements and resources for help, a view of their Carmen assignments, class schedule, Statement of Account, BuckID balance and dining account, among other features.
Parents, families, staff and faculty will still use Buckeye Link to find helpful resources.
The site also has several popular features from the Ohio State mobile app, including wellness resources. It also has additional enhancements including a more robust search function, and features will continue to be delivered.
SEM and ODTI will continue to seek engagement from the university community to ensure Buckeye Link is adapting to students’ needs, Hancock said.
“Our goal is to save students time,” he said, “and to make it easier for them to be successful.”
