Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp at University Women’s Polytechnic

Aligarh November 26: A three-day awareness camp on ‘Entrepreneurship’ was organized by the Training and Placement Cell, Women?s Polytechnic, Aligarh Muslim University in which more than 120 students participated.

The camp, organized in collaboration with the University Polytechnic (Boys), was sponsored by the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), Ahmadabad, with the support of Department of Science and Technology (DST), New Delhi.

Addressing the valedictory function, Dr Salma Shaheen, Principal, University Women’s Polytechnic and convener of the camp, said, “With shrinking job opportunities in public and private sectors, entrepreneurship has become a viable career option for the educated youths”.

Positive attitude, enthusiasm, discipline, patience and hard work are the main qualities a contender should possess to become a successful entrepreneur”, added Dr Shaheen.

In her presidential address, Ms Archana Kumari, Assistant Manager, District Industries Centre (DIC), Aligarh said that entrepreneurial development programmes are helpful in preparing new entrepreneurs and to set the path for the creation of a better society. She delineated various supportive schemes of the Government of UP for becoming entrepreneurs.

Er Mohd Mohsin Khan, TPO, University Polytechnic and co-convener of the programme said the University Polytechnic has successfully conducted several awareness programmes on entrepreneurship. He thanked the Ministry of Science and Technology for sanctioning this project to Aligarh Muslim University.

Mr Tariq Ahmed, organizing secretary, explained the advantages of becoming an entrepreneur and highlighted why entrepreneurship is a better career option for young educated women.

Ms Amrah Maryam and Ms Syeda Shira Moin conducted the inaugural function and coordinated technical sessions.

Mr Sohaib Masood and Ms Atifa Aqeel conducted the function while Mr Misbah Urrahman Siddiqui proposed a vote of thanks.
