European Commission appoints new Head of Representation in Italy
Today, Mr Antonio Parenti has been appointed as Head of the European Commission’s Representation in Italy. In this function, he will act as the official representative of the European Commission in Italy under the political authority of President Ursula von der Leyen. As Head of Representation, he will be responsible for the entire Representation with its two offices in Rome and Milan. He will assume his office on 1 June 2020.
Mr Parenti, an Italian national, is currently the Head of the Economic, Trade and Development section in the Delegation of the European Union to the United Nations. Being a highly experienced civil servant, with 25 years of professional career mostly in the European Commission and the External Action Service, Mr. Antonio Parenti brings significant knowledge and experience in EU affairs into his new role.
The European Commission has also decided today to extend the mandate of Mr Ferran Tarradellas Espuny, Head of Regional Representation in Barcelona. Due to the current coronavirus crisis, he will remain in office until 31 August 2020.
